thanks for everyone who chimed in on the digicam post (even the latecomers: bp+gy). my sister ended up picking up a sd700 on sale at futureshop. now to convince her to let my parents use it!! haha. who's the anon. poster with the sd630 :P?
now for round 2: my parents need a video cam for their trip. i've been looking at the Sony HDD ones.. anyone have any experience with HDD cams? and seriously, does anyone need 1080 lines for random recording?

canuck, *sigh*. dashing my hopes again!!..
i'm thinking of getting some sort of camcorder anyway.. i figure that with my terabyte of storage and stack of dvd-rs, i can manage the size =) 2 hrs of low-quality for 1 dvd-r ($.33) isn't too bad? i just don't want to deal with tapes, since i'm probably going to edit on my macbook anyway... but definitely noted on the dropping thing =)
canuckcam, any thoughts on the AVCHD cams that record to some sort of flash (4GB supposedly gets you a bit over an hour of footage).
