"let there be light"

today's weather is gorgeous. not only is the sun out, it's actually warm!

thanks for commenting everyone =)

back to photography, right shaun?

unless the d200 is a dismal failure in my hands, ie ergonomics, balance, etc (among actual photographic content, which shouldn't disappoint).. i'm going to buy this camera. no i'm not a nikon fanatic (ppl might comment on that).. and more importantly, i've been waiting WAYYYY too long.... i must continue on in my photographic development (no darkroom pun intended).. i've never owned a digital camera, but boy, i'm dying for it right now.. i think the first lense i gotta get is a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR. that's my focal length range. secondly, i don't know if i should really go the full nine yards and do the hensel thing, quite yet.. and the pocket wizards!! nevermind the fact that with the d200, gotta get all the goodies: 2x2gig cards, extra batteries, vertical grip, sb800 flash, stroboframe flash bracket, etc.. anyhoo, yeah, this is going to be insane.. not quite like the recording setup insane, but probably pretty close.

as a PDL small group leader, i've gotten some interesting feedback/responses from ppl going thru the "40 days".. it's quite encouraging, but also challenging as to 'next steps'... suggestions? talk to me =)

nami, what are you up to these days =)?

yeah, woo hoo, way to go! The D200 is killer... but just go and make pictures! Does the camera make the photographer? ie. do you exist as a photographer, is that your identity, even without a camera?

Hahaha, thanks for the photo content. Somehow the D200 slipped past me but it looks like a solid piece of kit, if they can just bring that darn price down, not that I could afford it anyways.

70-200mm? It has the same photo crop as the D70/D100 etc right? That's a fairly narrow FOV, what would you be using it for?

Oh, and the 2gig series II cards are mandatory indeed. I used two D70's for a wedding I just shot and was rather impressed with the speed. I was shooting max size jpgs. I was also using the Epson P-2000 photo viewer, 40gb memory, quick (relatively) transfer and large lcd screen (3.8"). It's a very tempting piece of kit that has been added to my wish list. Let me know how the D200 is; sheesh, you banking tycoons with your fistfull's of money!

the camera does not make the photographer, but what professional makes excuses when it comes to equipment =)?

drawwwring.. simon? =) we need to meet up for some bbls.

5d. i was reading the dpreview full-review.. quite impressive. considering i'm a high iso freak, i wonder if nikon is the way to go (subjective?)

shaun.. i'll be the first to say that banking doesn't pay :P i'm barely above the guy below the guy below the guy below the guy, etc.. you get the picture (with 8x more 'belows') =)

the 70-200mm would be like a 105-300.. 70-200mm is my bread & butter wedding lense, amongst other things. i don't like being too close or in the way..

the p2000 sounds cool. the bigger the lcd, the better.. i need a reference, especially in weird/new environments, or else, i'll be making poor initial decisions on how to shoot...

yeah, true. A pro just gets the best and it's expensed. And it usually pays for itself.
